Our Mission Statement

 

To promote authentic Cherokee basket weaving and to protect the interest of Cherokee basket weavers.

 

 

Our Goals and Objectives

 

To establish a Cherokee basket weaver’s advisory Board and facilitate a central resource of professional basket weaver services, referrals, and design expertise for potential clients and markets.

 

To organize a central Cherokee basket weavers center where:

 

1. Cherokee basket weaving can be taught

2. Reasonably priced supplies (both natural and commercial) are available.

3. Expertise of professional and educational basket weavers may be utilized for workshops, seminars, and displays.

 

4.To provide professional and educational basket weaving opportunities for future generations of Cherokee people.

 

5.To network in the communities through general fellowship and sponsoring basket weaving events.

 Associate Membership $12 (non voting) may be granted to a person who is a citizen of a federally recognized Tribes, Nation, Band, Pueblo, Clan or Village.
 Patron Membership $50 (non voting) may be granted to any person who is interested in supporting the Mission, Goals and Objectives of our organization Tribal Affiliation.

Cherokee Basket Weaver’s Association

Calender of Events 

 

Monthly Meetings are first Tuesday of each month except if that day is a holiday then it will be the second Tuesday of the month.
We meet at the United Keetoowah Band new complex, in the Wellness Center, off of Willis Rd. Please call or email if you need further direction. Visitors are always welcome and if it is a pot luck night, please feel free to join us.

Upcoming Workshops and Class Information

 



Cherokee Twill Basket Class, taught by Sandra Pallie on, Saturdays, November 10 and , 2007 and November 10 and 17, 2007, from 10am to 4pm, you may want to bring your favorite dish as we will have a pot luck lunch. Fee will be $50 for non-members.
